The Legacy Senior Living Groundbreaking

On March 26, 2025, we were thrilled to celebrate a monumental moment in the development of The Legacy Senior Living, a new low-income senior living community. This exciting event marked the official groundbreaking of the project, bringing together local leaders, community members, and partners who share a vision for creating a better future for the seniors in our area. The atmosphere was filled with energy and optimism as we took the first step toward making this long-awaited vision a reality.

The ceremony featured inspiring speeches from key figures of the project, including Pastor Moore of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, who spoke about the journey of acquiring the land and the profound impact the project will have on the community. Co-owner of Edison Community Partners and Lead Developer on the project, Jason Muniz, also addressed the crowd, expressing heartfelt gratitude to the investors, architects, and all those who have contributed to bringing The Legacy Senior Living to life. Following Jason, we were honored to hear remarks from a representative of Governor Whitmer’s office, Anna Cool, as well as State Senator Sean McCann, and the Mayor of Kalamazoo, Mr. David Anderson, all of whom highlighted the importance of this project to the local community and the state. Their words further emphasized the significant role The Legacy Senior Living will play in improving the lives of seniors and strengthening the area as a whole.

Construction is expected to begin in the coming weeks, with completion estimated in approximately 17 months, targeting Fall 2026, and we look forward to seeing this transformation take shape. The groundbreaking ceremony was a day of celebration, filled with photos, hard hats and shovels, delicious food, and great music. 

We can’t wait to continue this journey and bring The Legacy Senior Living to life, providing a safe, welcoming, and supportive community for our seniors for many years to come.
