Centennial Arms I & II Groundbreaking!
June 5th marked the joyous event of the official Centennial Arms I & II groundbreaking ceremony. With work already underway on the site, the event felt all the more significant and celebratory. Attendees laughed as they felt the vibrations from big trucks rolling by and other work happening in the distance.
Special guests came from near and far to congratulate the development team, including the Evart Housing Commission, Hollander Development, and Edison Community Partners, on reaching this milestone.
Mayor Roger Elkins spoke about the history of the Centennial Arms- that the project was likely named in celebration of the city of Evart turning 100! And now, this rehab and new construction will start in the year that the USA celebrates 250 years.
State Representative Tom Kunse and Michigan State Senator Roger Hauck
The rehabilitation of the existing “big building” in Phase II is slated for completion by year’s end. The foundations are being poured for the new buildings. The existing townhouses are also already being renovated, though completion isn’t expected until 2027.
